This was taken on the day that I arrived in Madrid as I wandered around the
streets looking for subjects for street photography. I enjoy taking pics of ordinary
object/subjects in everyday surroundings and seeing if I can come up with a different
way of looking at things. I saw this red scooter in front of a shop which had a
preponderance of red on the store front (obviously!) and thought I might be able to
make a red themed composition connecting the scooter and the store. I might have
a hint of the masochistic in me because it seems I take on projects that require a
lot of patience to complete, and it was no different with this one. The whole thing
hinged on how much of the red background I wanted to include; the original had too
many distractions for my liking, so I first selected out the scooter and then via the
clone tool on the hardest brush setting and inverting the selection I (very) carefully
brought one door on to its opposite side (so as to minimize the appearance of duplication) and
painted in the door. I then repeated the process for the other side, and used the skew and
distort tool in PS to plumb the image as much as possible. I have a feeling the result might
have all of you seeing red!!

"Red on Red" is clever, creative and great manipulation and above all, very realistic. Congratulations!   Posted: 03/11/2019 15:57:24

I love what you have done with this Jerry! One tiny quibble. The left and right margins beside the doors are not even, and I'd like them to be. Very creative, colorful, and sharp! Wonderful!   Posted: 03/12/2019 11:40:49

Hi peggy. Do you mean the width of the areas on the right and left side of the doors?   Posted: 03/17/2019 15:26:23

Yes that's what I meant.

I think your image is quite creative. You got rid of the windows by adding doors. For an artistic view, I feel the red on red works. For me though, I find myself going back and forth between the doors and the scooter. Maybe something red on the road would break that up? :) Overall, great job.   Posted: 03/12/2019 12:32:55

Hi Jerry. Visiting from groups 48 &80. I keep coming back to this image as I find it a great "street" photo but couldn't figure out what was grabbing my eye. I just realized if you look carefully at the doors you added, the one on the right, more so than the others is not lined up across the top. Simple fix by selecting the individual door and either moving it to match at the top or distorting it just a tad to make it a bit longer. Otherwise, a really great image.   Posted: 03/26/2019 08:02:35

I have been working with professional photographers who are visionary artists. They all have a common theme that they are artists and the camera is one of the tools they use to create their art. This piece is definitely artwork! It is the painstaking process that turns an image from ordinary to extraordinary. I will offer a few ideas that may take it to a higher level. First align the doors as mentioned above, next on the far left panel, clone out the little nob in the upper right corner, then clone out the bolt/lock. I suggest cloning the far left brown area to match the far right. Move to the door panel on the far right and clone the top so it is straight across, then clone the bolt/lock out. Dropping to the brick, clone out the white specks to the left of the rear tire and lower left. Last slightly darken the bright spots on the scooter, particularly the mirror. I wish I had found this image!!!!   Posted: 03/28/2019 09:31:36

What would it look like if the two outside panels were switched so the handles came together in the center?   Posted: 03/28/2019 09:55:58

I'm a new guy in the group and I'm enjoying the images already.
What a very unique piece and a great job of cloning and duplication. This stuff is hard to do and you've done well at it. You've done a great job in making us all see red. My only suggestions would be to crop both sides of the image right down to the red doors, and crop up to eliminate the cobblestones. This would focus in on the scooter and all of the red inducements.
