About the Image(s)

Well, these two had nothing to do with each other. Because of the size difference, I labeled her "imp." The model was taken at heOakland Railroad Station, which is now deserted. The car was taken at an old and rusty car exhibit at our county fair grounds. I colored that car using both Vibrance and probably Curves. The model was cut out using the new and wonderful extractor in the newer Photoshops, Select Subject. This can be fine-tuned but I have been having trouble with that section. The original cut-out is so good it gets most of the complicated hair very well. I cut her out and placed her, realizing the sizes would not match. So I decided to call her "imp" as I ha already said. I created some shadows around her and tried to get her coloring the match the BG. That was difficult as the BG is multi-colored. Best I could do.
If nothing else from this, please note how incredible the Select Subject command is in the new Photoshop. If you ever do composites, it's the place to go.

Joan, I love the effect that you have achieved on the car. The rust and myriad of colours works well. Placing the model on the mudguard is a master stroke which also works well and adds to the visual story. I would like to have seen the model's left hand leaning on the mudguard and also a little drop shadow underneath her right leg. The dahlia flower that she is holding is a little distracting and either needs to be toned down or removed. I felt that she was sliding off the mudguard and I mentally rotated the image clockwise to prevent this happing in my mind's eye.   Posted: 04/26/2021 01:21:30

Very nice! I love the colors of the background. You have done well making the shadows in the top of the image look natural, but you seem to have stopped half way down.   Posted: 04/26/2021 11:54:13

Joan, I think that you did a neat job to converting the rust on the car to an interesting abstract. I wonder if you must lived in my neighborhood when I was in the beginning process of growing up. (I still haven't.) To my eyes, your image is a very clever representation of something I remember wanting to do when I was a small child, but got yelled at all three times I tried.   Posted: 04/26/2021 17:27:53
