About the Image(s)

I worked at our local food bank for almost 14 years, until my back pain forced me to stop....Among many of the items that we gave out to people were fresh veggies and fruits...One day this bin of twisted and distorted carrots came in, and so I "rescued" a number of them, which resulted in this creative image...

the creative technique is one of Topaz' Texture filters, but I don't remember which one I actually used...the carrots were placed on a few lettuce leaves along with a twisted piece of driftwood...I think I also did a bit of darkening of the leaves and driftwood, but that is all..

Shirley, you have a very interesting and unique still life here and did a nice job with the texture. Since it was so organic, I thought I would give it a try using some organic textures. I hope you don't mind. Here is my rendition.   Posted: 08/01/2020 14:43:01

Interesting composition of the carrots and old building. Just one more way of doing something different..   Posted: 08/04/2020 15:12:43

Your grouping of the carrots, lettuce and driftwood is perfect and so is the Topaz filter - the vignetting especially made the group stand out.

By the way, did you cook the carrots when you were finished?   Posted: 08/04/2020 15:15:16

Yes, and they were delicious... right out of the field....crisp and crunchy!!!!   Posted: 08/04/2020 18:14:23

I just edited hundreds of photos from my 2019 visit to the D'Orsay Musee in Paris. So, I can't help but make a vavorable comparison of your composition to that of Cezanne. He was highly regarded by his peers for his excellent compositions too. The folds in the cloth impress me as well as the placement of the carrots, lettuce and wood. *****.   Posted: 08/07/2020 20:32:21

Yes, I was told many years ago, that folds in the cloths used in setups add depth and dimension to the scene...whether it be a black, white or in between color...   Posted: 08/07/2020 20:44:23

Another great display well set up. You are a master in that field. Hope the carrots tasted good after all that.   Posted: 08/17/2020 19:51:46

Not sure about the speckled texture myself but I do like the arrangement, the folds in the cloth and the gnarled carrots make an interesting subject. I bet they tasted great!   Posted: 08/26/2020 08:59:24
