About the Image(s)

One of the assignments in the PSA 365 Challenge was "COUNT". I tried several items, without success, until I had to go shopping....I saw these cute little ceramic pumpkins for sale and decided they would fit the assignment...I made a black and white copy and then pasted it on top of the original colored image. With the eraser tool I erased only the stacked and the two other pumpkins....Added a border and it was done. This was taken with a Panasonic Lumix point and shoot camera which I carry with me at all times.

By removing a lot of the background color, and thus it's "Busy-ness" as well, this image now really pops. I love that the black skeleton pumpkin looks so sinister. Great job! I know that Halloween is just around the corner.... I am still grieving that summer is over. :-(   Posted: 10/02/2019 09:13:07

I think you did a perfect job in emphasizing your intended focus. Your choice of subject materials was excellent too. 4**** out of 4!   Posted: 10/02/2019 18:26:43

Thanks.....will be interesting to hear what the judges say in club and council next month....Yes, this was a fun one to do....by having the back pumpkins in monochrome it separated the ones in front more....   Posted: 10/02/2019 19:00:47

The best camera is the one you have with you! certainly the right thing to colour pop and make those three in the front take centre stage. let us know what the judges say about it. One thing I may have done had I been there is turn the centre pumpkin to look directly at you....would he be so cute then!?!   Posted: 10/03/2019 08:39:46

Very cleverly done, Shirley. How could the club and council judges not like your entry? If those judges don't like it, get some new judges!!   Posted: 10/18/2019 16:41:07

Just to let you know that Sam Shaw, FPSA MPSA was our judge a few days ago and loved this image....giving it a top score of 10....will be interesting to hear what our council judge gives it next month when I enter it in Pictorial. I agree that it might be better if the one on the right were looking to the left more, but those items are no longer in the store to do this...   Posted: 10/18/2019 18:59:23
