About the Image(s)

This lion was at the Southwick Zoo in Mendon, MA.
I decided to digitally “paint” this image. I first added in grasses from one of my background files. (I take backgrounds, textures, skies, etc. and save them for future images). Then, using no plug-ins (no Topaz, no NIK, etc.), I used the mixer brush and other Photoshop brushes to digitally paint every aspect of this image. (this used the same technique of manually painting as my June DDG submission of the Kingfisher).

What a great job you have done on this image! Your technique has created a very sensitive portrait of the lion - imparting an aura of pathos. You should have this enlarged, framed and hanging on your wall. A portrait VERY well done.   Posted: 10/01/2018 11:31:15

Very beautiful!
Perhaps I would prefer to see the corners with graduated darkening.   Posted: 10/02/2018 15:52:58

You have achieved a very fine image of this lion - aptly entitled. Admire your painting skills.   Posted: 10/03/2018 13:42:56

Hi Cindy,
Top class piece of fine-art photography. It should do well in Open and Art Sections in Nature Comps of International Salons.
Although she works with horses your Fran Scott achieves similar 'art' images as does the Spanish nature photographer Marina Cano (but she is using natural dust for 'art' purposes).
I find this a real problem in Nature Comps as there is rarely an opportunity to submit the kind of image you have produced here. This image is a good reference to adopt a section in Nature Comps for fine-art nature photographs. well done,
Cheers,

Not sure that this image would be accepted in a PSA Nature Salon, as it has been digitally worked on, but I know that it would score high in any Color Salon...very well done....   Posted: 10/26/2018 12:23:29
