Natural Patterns by Jay Denny

March 2023 - Natural Patterns

About the Image(s)

One camera group I participate in has "Natural Patterns" as subject for March. This is my entry.
I liked this because of the repeating patterns of the trunks which was emphasized with the depth of field.
Finally decided to crop more like a panorama than a more normal aspect.

Hi Jay, Very good color on the tree trunks and good use of selective focus with the background. Had you considered cloning out the branch in the left side of the image?--I find it a bit distracting...even focusing in on the 3 trunks to the right of the branch may have helped. But I do like the creative element of this image!

It always intrigues me to see the results of someones imagination it taking pictures where most would walk by without a second look. This is very simple but we have a pattern and that is created by the careful use of depth of field. Well done.   Posted: 03/17/2023 05:47:43

Jay - very nice image. If your group allows, I would clone out the twig that is not upright. It seems to interfere with the tension of the other trunks. I like the f/stop you choose.   Posted: 03/21/2023 07:01:53
