About the Image(s)

Image taken with Canon EOS 5D Mark 4 at f/8, 1/2000 sec, ISO 800 & 180 mm in manual mode. It is (obviously) an owl landing on a tree branch. Slight treatment in On1 to convert from Camera Raw to jpeg. Mostly to bring out brown tones and contrast.

Hi Carroll,
Great impact. This is a powerful image of a beautiful owl. My only suggestion would be to darken the background to focus all the attention on the owl.   Posted: 04/04/2021 20:01:33

A beautiful shot that any of us would be proud of. Yes, the background is pretty busy, but lets call it an environmental portrait and enjoy it. The capture of the bird is excellent.   Posted: 04/06/2021 14:15:21

Hi Carroll, A wonderful environmental portrait. Per Barbara's comment darkening the background would help create even more impact.

I think you did a great job of capturing the owl. Sadly you missed the focus and the owl is soft. Still you have a very memorable moment.   Posted: 04/10/2021 16:31:29

I like this. The moment has been well caught, the bird fills the frame with its spread wings. It is a touch soft and maybe a little fussy in the background, but I still like it.   Posted: 04/17/2021 04:43:24

Although the owl is a little soft, it is still a great capture. I would also suggest to blur the background to focus on the main subject.   Posted: 04/18/2021 14:57:31

I thought all owls were night creatures, but obviously, some of them are flying during daytime. A little soft but I would be proud to have captured the image.   Posted: 04/19/2021 12:33:03
