Through the Trees by Barbara Asacker

April 2021 - Through the Trees

About the Image(s)

Equipment and settings: Nikon D500; 16-80mm lens; f/14; ISO 4000; 1/60 second 70mm focal length; Handheld

As I looked out my window I noticed the magnificent colors in the sky. I rushed outside and captured this scene just before sunset. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw, cropped, sharpened, and darkened the levels a bit. These colors were the actual colors visible in the sky.

I like what you did. Most of us probably wouldn't even of tried it. I don't think it would work well if you had not kept a bottom on the shot with that little bit of black across the bottom of the frame. A wonderful sky with a surprising choice for a foreground. It works for me.   Posted: 04/06/2021 14:19:05

Hi Barbara, I really like the color in this image & think the composition works well. I wonder whether going to a lower F stop (F8?) would have enable you to shoot at a lower ISO or perhaps a faster shutter speed. The lower ISO might help with any noise problems if you chose to enlarge the image (of course Topaz Denoise can help with this as well).

I like the colours and the idea of the trees in silhouette. As Stan says the base helps make the picture. I like the tree trunks and there position in the frame. Personally I think we have a few too many branches criss crossing the picture.   Posted: 04/17/2021 04:46:54

Wonderful sky colors. A nice natural setting with the silhouetted trees.   Posted: 04/18/2021 09:02:01

The colors of the sky are beautiful and the base of trees is an anchor for the image, but I would agree with John that there are too many branches criss crossing.   Posted: 04/18/2021 14:59:17

I think the colors are beautiful, no question about it; however, it is the lines and silhouettes which make the image special for me.   Posted: 04/19/2021 12:37:28
