Argentine Red Flower by Stan Bormann, FPSA, MPSA

February 2021 - Argentine Red Flower

About the Image(s)

These are common in landscaping in Arizona, but most of them are white. They are beautiful large flowers that tend to bloom all in a short period and not last very long, but they generally bloom more than once per year. This one is in our front yard. Shot with a Samsung 10 5G phone at ISO 50, 6mm, f/2.4, 1/570 sec.

Hi Stan, You've made a terrific image! The yellow draws me in & then I go to the other parts of the image but the `lines' on the upper & lower parts draw me back in. Wow! You are fortunate to have this in your backyard!

Hi Stan,
I really like this image. The colors are striking and adds impact. You managed to capture the sharp details of this flower from the center throughout. The background works well. I see you used your phone again. I'm impressed since I struggle to capture sharp details when I shoot with my Macro lens and tripod.   Posted: 02/09/2021 16:27:23

Well, I had a huge advantage, I was shooting with a 6mm lens which inherently provides significantly more depth of field than your 60 to 100 mm lens. Those small sensors have some disadvantages, but they also have some advantages, they come with much shorter focal length lenses.   Posted: 02/09/2021 23:47:38

A photogenic flower , well composed and taken. The lenses in phones allow such incredible depth of field, perfect in this instance.   Posted: 02/13/2021 06:52:39

Really nice flower image. The color intensity and focus are quite nice bringing out the full character of the flower.   Posted: 02/14/2021 05:50:29

Beautiful flower captured at the height of its beauty. I like the details and colors of the flower especially the detail of the heart of the flower. I would have wanted to remove the petals from the adjoining flower if possible because the flower appears to be almost symmetrical. In my opinion, the petals from the other flower are a little distracting.   Posted: 02/16/2021 19:53:33
