About the Image(s)

A portrait of my pet steer Bogart shot at a higher f-stop as suggested last month by Norm. I opened up the shadows a tad to give his coat and his ears more dimensionality and then increased contrast to slightly warm up his coat. I cropped in and then cleaned up his coat removing extraneous hay, etc. and also removed debris from pasture.

It worked, you have adequate depth of field to get the nose sharp. Yes the ground behind is a bit distracting. You could select it and darken or blur it a bit, but it is OK. You might try shooting him with the camera down lower to get a different background, perhaps a barn, trees or sky. I suspect he would lower his head to still keep pretty much the same shot of his head.   Posted: 02/04/2021 10:02:09

Hi Harriet, I really like this image...very sharp & the eyes are good! I would have the same suggestion as Stan in terms of the background.
Well done!

Hi Harriet,
He's a handsome pet, and you managed to capture his good looks with great detail. You were lucky he posed for you. Well done.   Posted: 02/09/2021 16:13:11

A fabulous portrait of Bogart. A real poser and such a pleasing colour. I know the cattle have to be tagged, this one is pretty well hidden, maybe a retouch could remove it.   Posted: 02/13/2021 06:50:18

good focus and color. Nice image of the animal and the bland pasture is so mundane that I don't particularly notice it.   Posted: 02/14/2021 05:47:38

Bogart is spiffy, ready to go out on a date. My only suggestion would be to lighten his eyes just a little.   Posted: 02/16/2021 19:42:24
