About the Image(s)

I recently added Maverick a guard llama to the farm. He is just 14 months old, but has taken his job very seriously. I wanted to portray his intensity. I cropped the image, used the healing brush to clean hay and straw from his coat, and added some warmth to compliment to cool background.
ISO 400 60mm f2.8 1/400 sec.

With f/2.8 at just 60mm you have limited depth of field, this is a good choice and you used it well. The eyes look sharp, and yes, the nose a little soft, but acceptable. The point is to get the background soft which you accomplished. As a portrait you would probably want the background even less distracting, but you are giving a hint of his domain and it is part of your story. I think this image is very well done. There are other presentations of this image. You could crop even tighter, you probably don't need as much of his neck as an example.   Posted: 01/08/2021 16:37:53

You managed to capture his big, brown eyes. I think he is smiling too. Maverick is handsome. Good job showing him off.   Posted: 01/09/2021 19:42:49

Nice image and environmental portrait! I like the cropping and the color of the animal's coat. While F2.8 let you blur out the background I'd be inclined to try the image @ F4 & F5.6 as well because, at least to me the nose area seems a bit soft.   Posted: 01/12/2021 14:44:25
