Funky Chicken by John Hackett

December 2020 - Funky Chicken

About the Image(s)

I got back to my parked car after wandering around looking for pictures and found this chicken walking along the wall towards me. It just kept on coming. I grabbed a few frames before it passed me. I get the impression it was looking for a gap in the barbed wire.

Hi John
This is a good story. The subject is sharp. The green blurred background complements the chicken. The moss in the foreground is a nice accent.

You can feel what that chicken might be thinking. Can I get through to that nice grass on the other side? It looks like it might be difficult for a chicken. The textures of the rocks and moss are great. The exposure of the chicken is also very good. It might improve by toning down that grass a bit, but the image is an attention grabber just the way it is.   Posted: 12/05/2020 19:36:36

Hi John, This image really `grabs me'... The chicken is sharp & the eye tells the story...`how am I gonna get to the other side?'Great exposure & composition...I agree with Stan that toning down the grass just a bit might help. Great job!   Posted: 12/06/2020 11:59:40

I agree with the chicken. That grass does look greener there. I've got to figure out a way to get there.

Your picture has a story and impact because of the color. I would not change a thing.   Posted: 12/11/2020 13:42:09

Nice image of chicken. My first impression was of the USA old west with cattle fenced in and giving rise to the song "Don't Fence Me In". Great shot with nice depth of field. Perhaps reduce the yellow on grass but image nicely done.   Posted: 12/17/2020 09:51:08

Very nice placement of the chicken in the frame and the near to far composition is very pleasing.   Posted: 12/25/2020 09:01:18
