About the Image(s)

Last month, I posted an image of Mrs. Dove, this month my image is of her chicks. Within 10 days, they fledged and can be seen around the house tended by their parents. I cropped and tuned the image in SnapSeed.

Hi Harriet, This is a wonderful nature image--and often a hard shot to get!
A couple of thoughts: had you given b & w a try?--perhaps the greys & blacks would look good here. Also, had you considered cropping out more of the front of the nest--especially the twigs-to bring more emphasis to the doves.

What an unusual picture to get. I like the crop and the way the doves have a beady eye on you, I would imagine the adult would be watching as well. It just shows what you can take in your own backyard.   Posted: 11/15/2020 06:02:43

What an unusual nature photo. The chicks appear to be posing for you. I like Norm's suggestion to perhaps convert the photo to b & w. I would also add a small vignette to keep my eyes on the very sharp chicks.   Posted: 11/17/2020 17:50:47

I am not a fan of out of focus foregrounds which was probably the only way you could get this shot with the chicks sharp which you accomplished. I would crop from the bottom to minimize the out of focus nest. There is little you can do with the sky in this shot. Norm's suggestion would probably make it less intrusive, but I suspect you want it in color. I don't think there was much you could do to minimize this taking the shot. It looks like moving either left or right would of been about the same.   Posted: 11/18/2020 09:12:31
