Hi John,

A very nice shot--to me at least it conveys a feeling of solitude.

I like the layers as broken up by the boat as well-it adds dimensionality to the image. I also like the sky color & cloud placement. `Just some thoughts: did you consider cropping up from the bottom a bit to eliminate some of the mud flats? Also, did you consider brightening the red trim on the boat to make it pop a bit more?

I looked at this and thought you are going to get a lot of comments. It all depends on your story. This boat does not make a great picture on its own, but the story of this poor lonely boat stuck in the mud does. With that story you use a very loose crop or no crop. Lots of sky, lots of vegetation and a good share of mud. This story probably justifies the decision to not bring out the colors in the boat. This is the story I see you telling here.   Posted: 10/11/2020 15:10:37

I like this just as it is.

I think the cloud is a great asset to the composition. It balances the boat. It is a reflection of the boat. It is a boat in the sky. It is the boat's dream of freedom. Etc.

Did you plan and wait for the cloud, or was it just there?   Posted: 10/12/2020 16:53:17

I also liked the layers and the colors. Most of all, I liked the question it provoked. How did the boat get there? Yes, you could crop a little from the top, but I like it just as it is.   Posted: 10/13/2020 14:01:53

Really nice image. My eye is first attracted to the boat but the brown/green grass and cloud draw me upward then back to the boat. Great use recognition of colors and contrast.   Posted: 10/17/2020 08:13:43

A very nice image - the mud/boat/grass and sky layers lend a feeling of vastness.   Posted: 10/28/2020 10:08:18
