Moth by John Hackett

September 2020 - Moth

About the Image(s)

We visited the garden of one of our club members who had set up a moth trap the previous night. As the moths escaped or were gently persuaded to leave we took pictures of them in various locations. I do not have a clue as to the species, its not an area in which I have any knowledge.

Amazing, most of us picked nature type images.

This moth is nice and sharp and I like that only the two closest leaves are sharp and the other background leaves are softer going back to just a green color.   Posted: 09/09/2020 04:38:49

You have really captured the fragility of the moth by showing its transparency, but to me the image is a little flat. I think I would up the saturation a bit, and possibly remove some of the blemishes on the main leaf.   Posted: 09/12/2020 10:59:10

Really nice sharp image with good color. White seems to cause me problems but you've gotten very good exposure.   Posted: 09/17/2020 06:11:23

You captured it beautifully against a natural background. The moth was probably in shock! I can imagine a gown made from this transparent fabric.   Posted: 09/17/2020 22:32:19

John - I like the texture here. The moth's wings remind me of paper and the veins and ridges of the leaves make for an interesting background.   Posted: 09/23/2020 08:51:03
