Hastings Boats by John Hackett

March 2020 - Hastings Boats

About the Image(s)

My image last month of the boat attracted a few interesting comments. This month my image shows the boat in context. The one on the left is last months subject. The boats are hauled up the beach from the sea as there is not a harbour.

In a slideshow, you would want to show both of these to provide a better understanding of the scene, but as a standalone, I liked the last month image better. This one however is more understandable. The last month got my interest more and made me think. Then you can explain it with this one. The combination of the two is a great story.   Posted: 03/07/2020 17:30:10

Thanks for the follow-up photo of the fishing boats, John. A crop of the sky so that last week's blue boat better competes with the lift for highest thing in the picture might be an interesting edit.   Posted: 03/09/2020 05:30:22

An interesting image John. I agree with Ann & Stan's comments...the only other thing I would suggest to try is cropping a bit from the bottom & a bit from the top so that the image doesn't become dead center & continues to accentuate the strangeness of beached boats.   Posted: 03/11/2020 13:39:44

Thanks for the follow-up explanatory picture.

I would crop some from the bottom and some from the top to make it more a panorama. It would accentuate the number of beached boats.   Posted: 03/20/2020 19:17:32
