About the Image(s)

Opportunities for street photography can be fleeting, but I suspect I could of taken 50 shots without the subject moving. I failed to take this opportunity and just stopped and shot. I wish I would of done something creative like getting down low and close with the wide angle and make his beasts of burden unrealistically large. In any case, I enjoy the image as it is. Shot with a Samsung Galaxy 10+ with its 6 mm lens, ISO 64, f/2.4, 1/120 sec. The camera picked the settings other than the lens, the 6mm I believe is the long lens of the three.

Although the subject looks well out of it, I suspect he would of reacted if you had got much closer.I quite like it the way it is.As you say Street Photography can be very fleeting and oportuities have to be taken.   Posted: 01/12/2020 07:55:37

Hi Stan,
Great street shot!...Its always a challenge to capture the right moment & I think this image does it well.
My only question is whether you think it would be an enhancement to crop up from the bottom--to eliminate a small bit of the street and in from the left?

Hi Stan,
I enjoy it as is too! It makes me think and want to ask questions. It makes me wonder: why the Chicago Bulls hat - Is he a Bulls fan? Does he even know who the Bulls are? What's in the bucket? Why is he dressed pretty well yet selling donkeys? Was he really sleeping or did he see you coming and fake it? Also, did you buy a donkey? Did he make them himself?

The composition, colors, angles and contrasts are great and keep bringing me back to the boy and make me keep asking myself more questions.

I think he is really sleeping, but I did not do anything to try to know for sure. We have found in our travels that American clothing with logos are pretty common wherever we go. I am not sure how they all get there, but I think a lot of used clothing goes out of the country and some tourists take things with them to give to children.   Posted: 01/29/2020 23:51:12

I like street photography also, but I have not found many opportunities to exercise it. The best images are the ones that are not posed like this one.

I, too, would try cropping a little from the bottom and the left to bring the young man away from the center of the image.   Posted: 01/12/2020 18:47:08

Great street shot. Conversion to mono and an increase in contrast a la "Bresson" might be interesting - just a thought.   Posted: 01/18/2020 11:23:51
