Storm across the water by John Hackett

December 2019 - Storm across the water

About the Image(s)

Taken during our tour of the Irish coast. This was a typical day sunshine and showers, although the showers were quite frequent and heavy. I converted to mono as I felt it fitted more with the impending weather.

John, I think this is a very good `mood' image. It really gives me the feel of being on the coast as a storm is breaking. You may want to consider cropping a bit off the bottom of the image so that the horizon line doesn't run through the center of the image.   Posted: 12/05/2019 10:03:15

Nice capture John. I likely would have been there and missed seeing it. My only, though insignificant, comment is the rock on the right keeps drawing my eye.   Posted: 12/14/2019 18:06:44

John - I like the monochrome conversion and think it works well for this stormy time at the coast. Are you able to get any further detail in the clouds?   Posted: 12/14/2019 19:20:49

I believe the image needs a foreground object and the rock on the right should stay. Yes, perhaps it is a distraction, but I like the image with it in. The small rock in the center feels like a distraction to me. Cropping might get too close to the rock on the right, so I might darken it some. I am not sure you need all the sky, I would consider cropping the top to bring the horizon to 1/3 from the top.   Posted: 12/26/2019 15:11:54

The impending weather lends itself to the mono conversion. I would suggest cropping some of the sky.   Posted: 12/31/2019 14:56:37
