About the Image(s)

I liked the fence at the top of the dune, I thought monochrome suited the subject.

A nice simple composition. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it is interesting to study. The monochrome conversion is good and I suspect the color didn't add much if anything. The classic (mono) presentation is good. I am not good at planning negative space, but I would probably crop the sky down some. Then if you didn't like the pano aspect ratio you might consider cropping something off the ends. I think your original presentation or a cropped one both work.   Posted: 08/09/2019 09:28:34

I have never been fortunate to come across this kind of fence at the beach. I've looked for one because I think the fence pickets and the mounds of sand with wild grass make a great photo. Because the photo is about the fence I also think the sky should be cropped somewhat to give the fence more importance. It works well as a monochrome photo.   Posted: 08/09/2019 15:24:25

You have a nice range of tones in this image - well captured. I would also suggest cropping a bit of the sky.

I like the contrast of the highlights in the pickets against the dark sky. I agree with others that maybe cropping would result in preferable compositions--you might experiment with cropping to keep the left 3/4 of the image, cropping to keep the right 2/3 of the image, and experimenting with cropping the sky/foreground a bit for each of those. Nice find! Makes me wish I were there for an evening clambake!   Posted: 08/10/2019 15:53:28

Hi John, I really like this image & the tones. My only suggestion is to see if you like it with a bit more of the sky cropped out.   Posted: 08/12/2019 12:22:29

Nice Monochrome John, Good visualization of lines and shapes. For me a darker sky (Ansel Adams like) and increasing Highlights and sharpness a bit make it more dramatic. Regardless of everyone's personal taste it is a nice image.   Posted: 08/13/2019 06:02:17

Hi everyone
Thank you for your comments, I will have a look at taking a bit of a crop off the sky.   Posted: 08/14/2019 03:31:13
