About the Image(s)

Using nothing but Filters in Photoshop, you can create a flame look. I first add the Mezzotint line filter under Pixelate filters; Then add a slight blur. Next create two new layers. On the first new layer go to filter/distort/Twist. Set the twist for either clockwise or counter-clockwise, doesn't matter. Next new layer do the twist the opposite direction. Adjust the opacity's of each layer to obtain the look you want. Then merge the two layers. You can then play with the blending mode of the merged layers to see how it looks over the background layer. I find it easier to just a mask and slowly blend the merged layers to the background layer so it looks like part of the original image is sharp and the rest is blurred and flaming.

Thank you Jim. Try doing one, would love to see it. There are so many variations that can be done on any subject. As a flower photographer, I find it works best on flowers.   Posted: 05/13/2020 07:53:03

Very effective and many thanks for sharing how you did it.

Thanks Angela. It does take a lot of practice and I am sure you will end up with something beautiful. The hard part of the effect is picking the right image and blending the layers. Just remember to pick complementary colors and add one color as accent. Here Red and Green are complementary and the yellow is the accent.   Posted: 05/15/2020 11:05:34
