About the Image(s)

Another day with some photo play toys at the beach. I’ve got out of bed today around 2.20 a.m. and drove with a friend to the Baltic beach. At first because of the cloud formation at the horizon it doesn’t look well for a nice sunrise “ but SURPRISE… and we used it for good ;-).

For this picture I overlaid two pictures in PS and worked it over with the Fractalius filter. Afterwards I send the merged picture trough the color lookup filter in PS and adjusted it in the soft-warming-look. And here you see the result… - isn’t it romantic? ;-)

My eye is drawn to the boat + mast on the horizon which is the only sharp bit, so I would be tempted to clone that out and perhaps straighten the horizon at the same time. Otherwise a neat trick.   Posted: 08/05/2019 07:44:36

I agree with Andrew on both points. If it was possible I would reduce the size of the fairy, she looms too large in the background, compared with the foreground image. I do like the subtle colouration and textures.   Posted: 08/06/2019 04:31:29

You certainy deserve bonus points for arising so early in the morning Kerstin. But you do loose some for missing that wonky horizon which was the first thing to catch my eye. The soft colours suit the subject but as Mike mention the fairy needs to be smaller so that there is some added depth to the image.   Posted: 08/11/2019 13:50:13

Kerstin, I love the treatment and colours in this image, especially on the fairy in the foreground.
I think there's some good comments previously about some ideas for improvement.
I'd like to see what you can do further with this image.

Way cool, Kerstin! Minor revisions will make this even more magical. Yes, the hard distractions in the background have to go, they don't match the feel. I also had a thought about the left-hand fairy, holding a wand that becomes the sun:   Posted: 08/22/2019 00:29:05
