June 2018 - Tattood salute

About the Image(s)

This was a street photograph (scanned slide) of a heavily tattooed man
leaning against a poster of a female rock group, taken in the '80s.

Quite a striking image but too much of the poster so I cropped and put this
through Topaz. I just wonder if the result needs to be slightly paler, what
do you think?

I like the look as is, and don't feel it needs to be lighter. The greyness adds to the mystique of the person with the medussa hair, outlined in black with lines of many colours.   Posted: 06/03/2018 19:00:39

A bit of a sinister feel about it. I think I would lighten it a tad. This is the sort of result that you get with Topaz, and my only criticism would be that the line pattern effect has become a little overused of late.   Posted: 06/04/2018 00:08:08

An interesting image and not disimilar to my offering last month. This suffers the same problem with facial detail and would benefit from at least lowering the opacity across the face. I am not keen on seeing so much of the arm ans would suggest cropping up to the bottom of the had, which would also reduce the amount of lightness at the bottom.   Posted: 06/12/2018 13:27:01

Thanks I wondered about cropping some of the arm at the bottom off.   Posted: 06/12/2018 17:43:49

I like the artistic look of this image but wish it was a bit brighter and that the arm wasnt cut off.   Posted: 06/14/2018 14:18:56

I wish I could see the original to get an idea of where this started.

I think it's a bit dark, especially in the eyes and the ink on the arm so that it loses detail and takes on a more sinister tone, which is fine if that's what you're going for.

Here's a version of just the woman and brightened a bit. Thoughts?   Posted: 06/22/2018 17:39:22

I did consider that but that would mean losing the tattooed hand
