A day out for Woody and Buzz by Peter Elliston

May 2022 - A day out for Woody and Buzz

About the Image(s)

I have been having some fun doing some composite images using various characters from Toy Story. This is a composite of three images - the toy shop and the two characters Woody and Buzz. I came across this toy shop on a day out and thought maybe I could incorporate the two characters on the window sill of the shower as if they had been to meet their fellow toys! I’ve had to remove a lot of reflections from the window and have tried to make it seem as if Woody and Buzz were really there but don’t think I have quite succeeded with it. It might be that I need to lose the right hand part of the window? Would be interested to hear what you all think. The two characters were taken on a table top and adjusted for their poses.

Peter, I admire your creativity here. Composites and me have never gotten along in the past. I thought the look of Buzz and Woody don't have the same look as the rest of the Toy Shop window. Maybe if they were inserted on the right side, it would have a better appeal???   Posted: 05/07/2022 15:51:36

I like the creativity. Putting Buzz in front of TOYS would balance it out. Getting rid of reflections isn't easy. You did a good job doing it.   Posted: 05/08/2022 15:47:49

I keep telling myself that I need to learn to do composites, but can't seem to get to it. Maybe one day. I think you did a great job dealing with the reflections and posing the characters in the window. I agree that Buzz and Woody don't quite look like they belong. I think its because they are sharper than the rest of the image, and their lighting is very flat while the other objects in the window have shadows.   Posted: 05/08/2022 23:57:44

This picture has needed good imagination and technique. The two figures are in the right place for me and the way you posed them seems to fit the location. However because of the difference in the lighting they do look as if they have been added. I think all your effort has been worth it, we have something different and maybe worth a second look.   Posted: 05/16/2022 06:48:54

I admire your creativity and tenacity to build this composite. My impression is that Woody and Buzz do not quite fit into the scene mainly because of the differences in lighting. Also, it is hard to reconcile the right and left parts of the image. Your idea of eliminating the right side might be an improvement.   Posted: 05/16/2022 19:35:02
