Providence WaterFire by Joe Norcott

February 2021 - Providence WaterFire

About the Image(s)

From May thru October at least twice a month on a Saturday night in Providence RI they hold the Providence WaterFire on the Providence River which goes through the city. Each event is based on a theme. I was really lucky to get a shot which included the moon as well that evening before it got cloudier. This was a handheld shot and I used Photoshop and Topaz Studio 2 on it.

A well exposed image and you did well at that slow shutter speed. Good detail everywhere and the moon is a real bonus. I like the way the buildings almost ascend in height from left to right.   Posted: 02/06/2021 06:44:48

Well done Joe #2. The overall image is very appealing as it has lots going for it - the sky and the moon, the buildings and the foreground. Much to look at and enjoy. A very minor thought - cloning out that black box in the left center of the water. It "blocks" my flow of seeing the image. . .   Posted: 02/06/2021 15:55:55

A well taken night time picture lots for the eye to wander over and look at.Then you have the added bonus of getting the moon in frame.   Posted: 02/13/2021 05:21:29

Very nice urban landscape. Love the blue lights on the left. Minor point, decrease moon brightness a bit so it doesn't draw your eye out of the picture.   Posted: 02/25/2021 18:24:44

I really like the subject, color, and composition. Considering this was hand-held, the exposure is very nice with all the important elements well-lighted. Of course, the full moon is a big bonus.   Posted: 02/26/2021 11:15:26
