About the Image(s)

A little street photography this month. This image was taken in 2017 on a trip to Ireland. It was shot from the hip using a Sony Rx100M5: 1/250, 2.8, iso 500, 18mm eq focal length. I saw the person sitting as we were walking along, and just held down the shutter release with the camera set to continuous as we passed him. This is the frame that captured him dead on in front of the staircase. I didn't get the horizon level, but I like the look. I'm intrigued by the tatoo-less person sitting next to the tattoo sign, and how the stairs and ceiling light fixtures add depth to the image. The image was processed in Lightroom, and Silver Efex Pro.

This angle works for me. It gives the impression of you passing him just as you describe. The exposure is also well handled right up through the stairway. Not totally convinced about your view on a tattoo-less person sitting next to the sign unless of course his expression and posture could be construed as if he is trying to decide if getting a tattoo is a good thing! Good piece of street photography.   Posted: 01/10/2021 03:54:17

I liked the angle you posted, your decision to go B&W and the composition. Peter seemed to hit upon all of the positives and i agree with his take.
Perhaps a more appropriate title would allow the viewer into what could be the man's dilemma. "Tattoo or No Tattoo. . ."

Overall, it's well done!   Posted: 01/10/2021 15:00:18

I like your work here and the angle adds interest to the photo. Perhaps a little crop from the right and bottom. Black and White is a great artistic choice.   Posted: 01/15/2021 09:24:53

An interesting presentation of the image and it works, by giving the image a casual feel. Maybe he is contemplating over whether to ascend the stairs and take the plunge. Monochrome suits this well.   Posted: 01/15/2021 09:44:53
