Sad Stumpy by Joe Kennedy

October 2020 - Sad Stumpy

About the Image(s)

On a recent photo shoot, I came across this tree stump which looked like someone's face (or, maybe it was too much fresh air). Shot in RAW and processed via NIK plug-ins.

f/11 at 1/200 sec and an ISO of 200

I like the texture and the way the grain swoops in from the lower left. I didn't see the face until I read your description.   Posted: 10/06/2020 19:49:37

Yes, I see the face! It also reminds me of a rhino horn! The texture and swirls are really impressive and well captured.   Posted: 10/07/2020 02:26:59

I saw the face. Excellent catch and a great example to make me want to look around more as I take photos.   Posted: 10/09/2020 12:50:14

To me it looks like my hair after months of self-isolation and hesitancy to go to the beauty parlor. But, yes, the texture and grain combine to make this a lovely image.   Posted: 10/11/2020 06:53:36

The seeing eye. Well done in spotting the face in the stump. The texture of the wood is superb and that face just makes it.   Posted: 10/16/2020 09:55:47
