David Chillin’ Out by Joe Kennedy

March 2020 - David Chillin’ Out

About the Image(s)

My camera club held a field trip at a former abandoned fort. The walls have become canvases for graffiti despite the efforts of the authorities. We were using long exposures with some light painting. Although this one did not use the added light, I did like the results.

F/11 at 10 seconds on a tripod. Processed in PS and NIK

Has a lot of color, and a sense of drama without motion. Rather soft but I think that works here. Engaging image.   Posted: 03/04/2020 08:11:35

Looking at this fellow, I'm not sure if he's deep in thought, just chilling out, or what, but it is a really good dramatic image. Well done

Very cool. I love how the color of his clothes and hat match colors in the walls. Was this a model or "volunteer", and were the clothes colors planned in advance? Great lighting. Interesting to compare this image and Udayan's.   Posted: 03/06/2020 16:22:11

Nothing planned. We were doing some light painting in this old fort and needed a volunteer. He offered to sit while we played with a light source. I'm sure his outfit would have matched EVERY wall in that fort :)   Posted: 03/06/2020 18:12:44

Compellin and moody image. The vibrant blue jeans are little too dominant for me and might benefit from some saturation alteration. And i might suggest doing some graffiti of your own by removing the white vertical lines in the lower middle of the image.   Posted: 03/10/2020 11:51:55

A interesting and "moody" image. I agree with Peter. The jeans definitely look oversaturated with blue.   Posted: 03/15/2020 09:25:33
