About the Image(s)

Sedona Arizona is another beautiful spot just a few hours from home. I took this picture while on a workshop with Arizona Highways. This is Oak Creek Canyon at Slide Rock State Park. The rocks really are that red (the area is known as "Red Rock Country"). Technical details are Sony A7R3, f/11, 105mm, 1/20sec, iso 100, on a tripod. Focus stack of three images in Photoshop. Other post in Lightroom. (The sunlight was just coming over the top of the canyon, and it lit up the rocks in the lower left corner - I needed to tone those down quite a bit). I could have gone with a longer exposure to get that "silky" water look, but I like this look better - I think the silky thing is being overdone. One of the workshop participants slipped and fell into the creek. There is a reason they call it Slide Rock.

Great merging without loss of water element sharpness. Lovely scene well composed and presented. Makes me lonesome for all my years in the SW.   Posted: 11/06/2019 15:47:24

Well taken and composed. You have a really natural feel to the water. The colour of the rock is not that in your face. Works well. Hope the guy who fell in was OK and that he didn't take his camera with him!   Posted: 11/07/2019 08:04:47

Good leading line with this stream, Sheldon. It took me back to the end of the frame. Rich colors in those rocks (I have spent some time in this area in the past and they are truly RED). Combine that red with the green in the foliage and you have the makings of a great landscape.   Posted: 11/11/2019 10:27:56
