Town Park Revisited by Joe Kennedy

October 2019 - Town Park Revisited

About the Image(s)

I took this image back in 2011 and it was resting quietly in my archives. An attempt to clean out my External Hard Drive opened up some images from the past that looked as if they needed a second life. This was one of them. Shot with my old Nikon D200 with at 1/80 second at f/5.6. It was mostly about the post-processing as some of the original color tones were not pulled out from it.

Beautiful shot. Love the somewhat muted tones and the sense of solitude.   Posted: 10/04/2019 14:34:59

Winter is not about blankets of fresh white snow. This is the reality of winter. While it is full of solitude is also radiates the feeling of cold. The curving hanging branch of the tree makes a fine frame for this image.

If I had to suggest any change it may be to crop a little off the bottom as that large rock might be a little bit dominate.

This is quite well done.   Posted: 10/04/2019 17:56:47

I rather like the mood this image conveys, and I personally like the rock around which the image swirls. Soft solitude. Well constructed.   Posted: 10/06/2019 23:16:22

This scene is all about mood, and I think you've captured it well. I like how the tree limbs frame the brighter white snow patches, and the contrast with the dim, blurred trees in the foggy background.   Posted: 10/07/2019 06:20:41

This is a very atmospheric image which I like a lot. I like the mistiness and the way this shot really lets you feel the cold. One nitpick would be to remove the small line of yellow/orange bottom right as it tends to take the eye there rather than the centre of the image.   Posted: 10/08/2019 12:28:17

Peter, I'm not seeing the yellow/orange line you pointed out. . .   Posted: 10/08/2019 13:13:45

I think it may be a leaf or stick which is 3 inches in from the right as you look at the image and about one inch up from the bottom. It's pretty small so maybe is not an issue. The image works very well so probably ignore me!   Posted: 10/08/2019 13:37:03

Now, I see it - I was looking for a line. I think it was a leaf.   Posted: 10/08/2019 16:08:20

This picture has a real winter feel to it. You get cold just looking at it.I find the softness of the image adds to the sense of winter.   Posted: 10/14/2019 05:53:34
