About the Image(s)

This image, "St Louis Botanical Garden" features Chihuly sculptures floating in the reflection pond with the "Climatron" in the background. The colorful floating glass sculptures combined with the unique geometry and texture of the background structure presented a nice composition.

And, the reflection didn't hurt the overall impact either, Glann. Very colorful - good eye to catch it with this angle. I think the greenery on the right takes away from the shot as there was not enough of the branches to matter (left side was just right).   Posted: 08/04/2019 10:27:41

My first reaction was - just why are there strange coloured onions doing floating in the lily pond? Never mind. I like the colours in this shot but think there are probably several images here and as a whole they don't quite work together pictorially but I don't know which crop would be useful. The colours are certainly eye-catching and this must be great place to visit.   Posted: 08/05/2019 06:21:37

I like the composition, with the door centered vertically and horizontally, and the edges of the reflecting pond leading you into the image. Sharpness also looks good to me from foreground to background, helps give a great feeling of depth.

The image appears to have been made mid day in bright sun. Tough conditions. Highlights appear good, but strong shadows are blocked. Is there enough information in the raw file to bring out some detail in the statues and greenery, especially on the left side?   Posted: 08/05/2019 13:34:18

Quite a scene indeed. Chihuli gets around now with so many helpers, doesn't he? The reflection is so sharp that it almost denies being one. Excellent depth of field capture here as well.   Posted: 08/05/2019 17:26:38

Thisall shouts out for you to get your camera out. Its all there. Colour, shapes, reflections. The glass objects add to the refection of the building, you also did well to not have any people wandering around.I like it.   Posted: 08/11/2019 08:09:09

Sheldon, I tried your suggestion and brought out the shadow areas with good results (image attached.) I guess Joe prefers the shadows.   Posted: 08/11/2019 13:02:12

First image too large. Here is the smaller version.   Posted: 08/11/2019 13:06:13
