About the Image(s)

I have been accomplishing two things from my photo list of late - getting out with my new lens and visiting some of the historic sites in the area. This month's shot is brought to you by Slater's Mill in Rhode Island with a little help from my new 80mm macro lens.

Unfortunately, it is another "industrial" capture. The handle on this device was there for the snapping. Handheld at f/2.8 and 1/60 sec. with a high ISO of 3200. The monochromatic version lacks the depth found in this colored version.

Getting a little cranky, Joe? A new twist on the prior themes. A good handle on the occasion. One good turn I am sure deserves another. Thanks for the chance to humiliate myself again. Elegant simplicity.

Hmmm, has anyone read The Turn of the Screw, or The Screwtape Letters? Remember also Lady Macbeth's advice (do I need to actually state it?).
Great image, by the way. Interesting that it does not render well in b/w. Good that you tried it.   Posted: 10/05/2018 12:41:41

Stephen, the monochromatic rendition lacked the pop that came from the brass color.   Posted: 10/07/2018 12:11:48

Congratulations Joe for your new lens.Out of focus background really worked here in this image. Loved it.   Posted: 10/06/2018 04:26:54

Another simple image this month but a further example of how ordinary objects can make great photographs. The solidity and importance of this handle is perfectly realised in this shot.   Posted: 10/12/2018 07:40:42

You have selected a very simple subject and turned it into an interesting image. The lighting/shadows along with the colors are perfect. I would suggest taming the three bright spots in the background.   Posted: 10/13/2018 14:11:07

Unfortunately, all the good puns have been taken. Interesting composition. Great job blurring background while keeping the handle in focus.   Posted: 10/14/2018 06:41:06

Because of the colours in the image this one needs to be in colour. It is simple but well composed and taken. The background concentrates the eye on the subject. Do not apologise for posting another of your industrial pictures, I really like them.   Posted: 10/17/2018 08:16:41

No apologies needed - just enjoying the opportunities to get my camera and lenses out and about. Enjoyed the puns.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll try to book some non-industrial shoots in the near future, maybe!   Posted: 10/17/2018 08:47:26
