Hoops and Balls by John Hackett

October 2018 - Hoops and Balls

About the Image(s)

Taken at a harbour somewhere in Ireland. I like the arrangement of the floats and the red hoops at the top of a ladder. The weather was kind with the light being bright but a slight boost of saturation was used.

Hello John, I am visiting from Group 32. Thanks for sharing your keen eye and enjoyment of surprising geometry with us. I really like this sort of photographer-observer action.   Posted: 10/02/2018 17:27:42

What a grand eye, John. I love the simplicity and the composition. There is great fun here.   Posted: 10/03/2018 18:58:43

John, great composition here. The deep reds against that blue water was enough to get my attention. Then you added those red round objects framed by the railings!! Simple but powerful.

If this goes into competition, I'd like to hear about the comments. . .   Posted: 10/07/2018 12:10:19

This is a great shot. Very simple but very eye-catching. I cannot suggest any changes.   Posted: 10/12/2018 07:38:52

Great graphic art composition. I especially like that the pattern is "broken" by only having one float in the left hoop. Perhaps darken or even crop tighter on the concrete at the bottom of the frame to help keep focus on the hoops and floats.   Posted: 10/14/2018 06:37:36
