About the Image(s)
A typical Florida flamingo going about the usual foraging in a late afternoon reflection. Somewhat enhanced saturation but otherwise as seen.

Wow - this is some colourful image. Did you decide to up the saturation or just not tone it down? Pin sharp and well set against the water - why is the water gold? Not that that really matters as the shapes and reflections are very compelling.   Posted: 06/11/2018 03:07:55
Peter: Water is gold from the reflection of a nearby building. And the saturation was tweaked up slightly, just for impact, but not much.   Posted: 06/11/2018 06:48:20

Very nice - was there another shot there as well - one that included more of the reflection of the flamingo? Perhaps a bit more contrast in the pink feathers to bring out their detail.   Posted: 06/11/2018 10:06:17
Thanks, Sheldon. There is almost always another shot in someone's eyes and that's what makes it art.   Posted: 06/11/2018 12:38:23

Enhancing the saturation has turned this into a piece of art rather than a nature image. And personally I like it this way. Composition is perfect and the gold of the water goes well with the flamingoes colour.   Posted: 06/12/2018 05:37:18

Dick, I like the impact the golden water has on the flamingo - helps to pop it off the screen! I am not seeing the enhanced saturation on the bird. The light sections on the backside are a minor distraction for my eyes. Also, the top of the frame is a near merge with the back of the flamingo.
Has anyone else noticed the near extinction of the pink plastic flamingos? It's been a while since I have seen them in these parts. Hopefully, it's just a matter of migration and they will be back. I do remember a city in Massachusetts as being the producer of these lawn icons!   Posted: 06/12/2018 13:20:49

The lawn ornaments came down here with the snowbirds, perhaps.   Posted: 06/12/2018 14:16:10

I like everything about this image. The detail and colors are exquisite. You chose well for this composition. The white feathers in the top right might be toned down a bit and perhaps not cropped as close to the edge. Well done!   Posted: 06/13/2018 11:50:23
