About the Image(s)

Hand held after tromping through the woods. No place for tripod and had to hug a tree to stabilize in order to get silky water. Metadata not saved.

Well, another image that was too sharpened for this site. I am a slow learner, I guess. Anyway, enjoy it for what it is.   Posted: 07/06/2017 21:45:24

I can see why you took this image as ut is a beautiful scene. I like the way you have framed the fall with the trees and the use of the foreground rock leads you up the waterfall. I'm not sure how true the colours are but you were there and so know that but maybe the reds seems very bright and some desaturation of them might help. But as you say, this is a very pleasant image to see.   Posted: 07/07/2017 02:46:39

Dick, I do like the overall impact of these falls. The fallen limb adds interest for me as it tries to keep me from going further up the falls.

Sharpening issues? Try using a layer in your sharpening and then back off it. By clicking on the eye you can see the impact your new layer has on the overall image.

I might consider a tighter crop to take out the upper region (just whee the rock intersects them) as it appears slightly over-exposed. there is enough interest in the rest of the falls to carry it.   Posted: 07/07/2017 07:43:06

The branch with the red leaves makes this so much different to a straight image of the waterfall. Whatever the shutter speed was it looks about right for me. Well worth the tromp through the woods. And tree hugging is not all that bad.   Posted: 07/10/2017 07:20:37

Dick, when I first looked at the image, I thought it must be October because of the red and yellow leaves. Well, your acrobatics were worth it for you came away with an attractive image. I would crop the top and the left side a bit. The cascading soft water contrasts nicely with the somewhat unnatural looking surroundings.   Posted: 07/14/2017 08:38:18

It was September, Ursula. Remember, this is Maine. Thanks for your thoughts.   Posted: 07/14/2017 09:41:29

By looking at the image, I could feel the beautiful scenery surrounding this beautiful falls. What can be improved, others said it well!   Posted: 07/21/2017 08:26:11
