About the Image(s)

I spent a day at Lake Osborne in Lake Worth, Florida last weekend. Jet skis sped back and forth, and then I saw one jet ski across the lake doing one flip after another - four in a row each time. I tried to capture it as a still image, but video would have been better. My Sony A6300 camera with 18-200 lens was set at 1/2,000 second, f/6.3, ISO 400, with the lens extended to 143 mm.

After drastically cropping, I sharpened the image in Photoshop. Next I selected the man and his jet ski, inverted the selection, and converted the inverted selection to black and white. I burned all of the background that still seemed distracting, removed the young man and his bag from the beach, and added a stroke. I’m still not feeling it’s OK.

I love peak actions shots and this is certainly one. Your post treatments makes it very dramatic.   Posted: 04/02/2021 19:10:49

Are you kidding?? I love sport photography. Your post processing is outstanding. I had to go back and look at the original to fully appreciate all the work you did. Your combination of monochrome and color creates a image I would frame and display in my home, if it were mine.   Posted: 04/10/2021 19:07:27

Fortunate that the skier did multiple flips so you could time it perfectly and get the ski exactly inverted. Since the ski is orange, converting background to monochrome was not necessary, but it is just my personal preference against monochrome. Good removal of distractions and post processing.   Posted: 04/12/2021 12:12:42

Wow! That is a post-processing job and a half! I was amazed when I looked back at your original. Way to recover a very interesting photo from a mish-mash. Love it!   Posted: 04/15/2021 11:40:48

Excellent shot. I liked your post processing. It looks very nice in partial color. The image is sharp and has good lighting on the subject. Nice job, well done.   Posted: 04/20/2021 12:47:49
