About the Image(s)

I was in St. Augustine, Florida last month and wandered into the main building of Flagler College, which used to be the Ponce de Leon Hotel. I didn't expect the magnificence that I found inside. I love photographing domes and the one overhead was irresistible.

I took this photo handheld with my Sony rx100's "multi frame noise reduction" setting, which captures 5 images very quickly and combines them to eliminate the noise. The settings were 1/30 sec, f/8.0, ISO 3200. In Lightroom I rotated and cropped a bit, added Texture, and lightened Shadows.

Interesting image. I liked the angle of the shooting. This composition is good for a 3D image too. The image is sharp with nice lighting. I have no suggestions. Good work.   Posted: 01/08/2020 09:56:17

Joan, great image! I can't believe the depth you were able to capture. I think adding the texture really helped this image come to life. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 01/10/2020 08:31:49

Excellent shot. Good choice of angle and range of contrast. What else can one say?

Great perspective of a difficult subject. I like the deep shadow areas in the original best because it shows a richer tonal range in the wood but the other changes you made helped to improved the image.   Posted: 01/16/2020 16:46:19

I love ceiling shots like this. It is a gorgeous dome. The noise reduction worked well. You did a great job framing the shot. Nicely done!   Posted: 01/24/2020 12:36:43
