About the Image(s)

I was trying to prepare a cover page for our drama club. The main character in the drama is an invisible man. This is the initial work, which is continuing and I have 2 weeks time to finish it with the suggestions of the drama director. This is the top portion (about 50%) of the page under preparation The base image was taken by Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W3 camera, f/3.7, Speed 1/5 sec, ISO-1600 without flash. I used the spherical distortion to create the background and then changed the hue to get the present look. The other objects were added to this at different layer opacity.

When I look at this image, I immediately get a sense of drama-science fiction, eerie events, and of course, an invisible man. The ghostly appearance of the man makes me unsure of his intentions. To me, this image seems a good choice for a drama cover.

I like the way you distorted the original image (a bridge?) and your use of complementary colors. The layering is very effective as is your choice of font. The images you chose to create the invisible man seem, to me, to communicate the layered nature of this character. Although I can't discern those individual images, I certainly get a sense of there being more than meets the eye about this character.

Nicely done!   Posted: 08/01/2019 14:16:35

Wow, what a fun and creative task you have been charged with! I do feel that the color and effect of the background is spot on. The image of the man is a bit confusing to me. Is he facing us or are we seeing his back? If it is his back, I don't think having a face adds to the image. I also feel that the left side of the man's image works but on the right side the cut off line of the elbow lacks the fluidity we see on the left. Finally, I think you may want to reconsider your font choice and color. If these are programs to be printed, the gold letter color may wash out. Would love to see the final project.   Posted: 08/02/2019 18:57:02

I think, dark background and the whole creation is appropriate for the theme. I could hardly comment it from photographic point of view. And I can't imagine to create somthing like this by myself.

My reaction is that the "invisible" man is quite scary and is in a tunnel coming toward me. You've done a great job of creating drama, and the red radiating out from both sides of him is quite creative and attractive.   Posted: 08/14/2019 16:19:41

What a creative challenge. To me the invisible man is too visible. I think your background is great and would be better as the top layer. I would suggest using the ghost like body of the man in your original (bottom center) as the background and placing that spherical distortion technique on a top layer, then lower the opacity over the area where the man is to have him faintly visible thru the red layer. This would have the invisible man appearing through the red and black distorted sphere. I can't to this myself but I'm betting you can. I also think your text does not work well with this image. You need more of a creative ghostly touch ...maybe with some kind of modified drop shadow. Good luck. I too would like to see your final image.   Posted: 08/15/2019 12:46:36

I have to drop this preliminary draft as the drama director did not like the colors and given some other suggestions and concepts!!   Posted: 08/15/2019 13:24:49

You have created such interest from our group, perhaps you might consider posting an updated image for our group for next month using our suggestions so we can see what you come up with...just for us.   Posted: 08/15/2019 14:11:51
