About the Image(s)
This is ”Full Moon”, one of the first attempts with Affinity Photo that I decided to start to try to learn to use during the holidays. This started with a close-up of a head of a thumbtack on a board in a wall. F 55 ,f/4.5, 1/60 s, ISO 400. The image was cropped and turned 90 degrees to transform into a full moon over the sea, with the help of a lot of layers and various brushes that I kept finding in the program. I tried many color combinations, but this one I liked best.
A Happy New Year to everyone!

Hi Kirsti, what a creative way to see and present a rather ordinary subject. My first impression was of a full moon (even without reading the title). I can offer no comments to improve this photograph, instead, I look forward to learning from you.   Posted: 02/07/2021 14:46:00
Thanks, Billy! It has been great fun to play with the tools and effects while trying to learn to use the new program!   Posted: 02/07/2021 15:09:47

Hi Kirsti. What a Creative mind you have. I do see that you were able to make a thumb tack into the moon with clouds and the horizon line texture on the bottom. Since you were adding layers perhaps the ocean image from last month or two would create more interest and texture in the bottom of the image.

Thanks, Bob! I'll certainly test the idea!   Posted: 02/10/2021 14:57:03
Kristi,
The look you have achieved by working with the new program is wonderful. It really looks like a moon at night with a thin cover of clouds. I am not familiar with this program, but it seems to work well and you seem pleased with it. The lines from the original wooden background are in a situation where you might consider removing them, but at the same time, they make the image different. Excellent job!   Posted: 02/19/2021 17:18:56

Thanks Joan! I think that the program is very much like Photoshop, with endless options (when you lear how to...). It works as an external editor with Capture One and, e.g. Apple Photo, and a bonus is that it has an eternal license with free updates.   Posted: 02/20/2021 01:16:42
Hi Kristi: Full Moon is most satifying image. I think we could call this a composite image. In my latitude the moon is suppose to be spectacular (Feb, 26th) Think they call it "frosty moon" I wonder if the same effect will appear in Scandinavia. Back to your image ... I like the idea a lot.   Posted: 02/26/2021 13:38:39
Thank you, Rick! Yes, we call it "snow moon". I am watching it right now - it feels specially bright!   Posted: 02/26/2021 15:47:45
WOW! Now that is creative for sure! I like the color though I'm a purple person so I would have had to do it in purple, but I love this - "Blue Moon." Experimentation is the way to go.   Posted: 02/28/2021 15:44:42
