Three Windows on Rockport, MA by David Brown

November 2020 - Three Windows on Rockport, MA

About the Image(s)

Taken this Fall in Rockport, MA, just after sunrise. Exposure info: 60mm, 1/125s, f/9.0, ISO 100. This was shot through an empty store that overlooked the harbor. The original was a bit drab so I upped the vibrance, played up the blues, and added some contrast. I plan to submit this in an upcoming photo club salon under the topic 'Things in 3's' (three windows). Appreciate any feedback.

I like your 3's David. Not only 3 windows, but 3 panes across each window. Great timing with the sunlight illuminating the windows and frames. You did well to compose without chopping the red boat in the center window. Red from Motif can't really be enhanced much because of the side lighting. It might not win in a general category, but it will do very good considering your Things of 3's category. I would of tried to enhance the shadows of everything and cutting highlights with hopes of bringing more color to the blue building, motif and window frames. Very good find.   Posted: 11/12/2020 14:18:57

David, this will be perfect for the theme! The light is beautiful, and the warm color of the window frame makes a nice contrast with the cooler scenery that opens outside. There are a lot of details in the background but the frame keeps it firmly structured. Good luck!   Posted: 11/15/2020 12:04:11

David, there may be 3 windows, but there are also 3 main objects in each window. Buildings/boats. Color is beautiful and vibrant. I love Rockport, MA, spent many days there during my Army assignment in Ft. Devens. A very unique fishing village in the 70s. Good luck in the salon!   Posted: 11/18/2020 12:25:40

Hi David,
Beautiful sea views from your 3 panes of windows! Perfect and match the theme of things in 3's. This photo is perfect to hang up on the wall when there isn't a window! Nice image!   Posted: 11/25/2020 07:18:53

This is a great shot with your enhancements. That you were able to keep the light on the window frame is a wonderful capture. I love the feel of the view through the windows. I do notice that you darkened the sky, maybe using a graduated filter, but that works well. Love the light on the boats, as well. Excellent job. You should do well in your specialize category as well as in pictorial.   Posted: 11/25/2020 14:14:18
