About the Image(s)

Dawn in Harpers Ferry. This image was taken at 6:36AM A year ago Sep 29. I Love the Blue and orange of Dawn on the river. Actually the spot where the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers meet and various currents in the water. Meta data: ISO250, 62mm, F7 and 0.4sec. Processed in Luminar and Lightroom.

Bob: I really like the colors in this dawn image. I see nothing "wrong" with your photo as is. For an experiment try cropping out the bottom part of the image to achieve a panorama-like picture. I don't know if the cropping adds any serenity to the image, but just a thought.   Posted: 10/10/2020 14:54:59

Thanks Rick. Yes, I did have the thought about making the panorama but I liked the current coming in from the left and directing the eye to the orange water. I'm sure everyone wouldn't agree...But..I always Appreciate your ideas Rick. BTW, I've given up on Luminar for DAM- managing my images and I've imported all in LrClassic and will use Luminar plugin for editing.   Posted: 10/12/2020 14:16:07

Bob, another strong and beautiful picture! I love the colors, too, and the sense of depth and dimension are huge. I have just completed the Landscape lesson of the digital photography course, and this has all the elements.   Posted: 10/17/2020 14:17:09

Bob, my almost favorite place in the states. You have captured its spirit without the man-made interruptions. Dawn there is beautiful and the peacefulness relayed by the photograph of a place in time that was anything but peaceful. They, the spirits that remain there, are at peace now. Thank you so much for sharing this.   Posted: 10/19/2020 09:52:37

Bob, I think your choice of leaving the foreground is a wise one. There is more than one way to divide a horizon in half. In this case, if you made it into a long, narrow panoramic, it would divide the colors in half. I like having one color, the blue, in great proportion than the orange. I like it just the way it is.   Posted: 10/24/2020 13:47:44
