View through a Club's Front Window by Charles Wood

August 2019 - View through a Club's Front Window

About the Image(s)

The image was captured during a nighttime street photography outing in downtown Nashville. ?? It was made through the front window of a club that had its performance stage at the front of the revenue next to the window.?? I was shooting primarily with a full frame film camera.?? However, for this image a Sony RX100 IV with a fixed Zeiss 24-70mm equivalent lens and a 1 inch sensor was used.?? The camera's shutter speed was 1/125sec, the aperture was f2.8, ISO was 800, and the actual focal length used was 24.64mm. A tripod was not used.???? Standard post processing of the raw file was done using Lightroom Classic as well as some contrast adjustments using NIK presets.

I think this is a stunning capture of a street photograph. You have everything in: poster, musician, lights, color. I can just feel the music. Congratulations on seeing and getting this. I think it also works in B/W, but the bright streak in the foreground would need to be toned down a bit.   Posted: 08/08/2019 21:29:16

Dear Charles: In this case the color version really works. The picture looks like a composite of several images. I find it exciting to look at. i think I would have put a thin white stroke around the image to separate it from the black background of this site. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 08/12/2019 14:12:55

Thanks. The image is not a composite.

I love the primary colors and the lighting. The whitish band acts as a frame for the photo. It's incredible that this is not a composite. A remarkable job of getting reflections and reality to meld together perfectly. For some reason it reminds me of an illustration that would go well in a Fitzgerald novel or Citizen Kane. The way the lighting bounces off each other is remarkable. Great work!   Posted: 08/23/2019 13:14:41
