About the Image(s)

This is an image of a deceased dragonfly placed on a white dish and placed on a table in natural light. I am not sure what I was trying to achieve but I quite liked the circular outline from the dish around the poor dragonfly. This may be ‘drawing a long bow’ but the thought ‘the circle of life’ came to mind.

I think he works well on the white background. To me the white dish lighting seems uneven -more shadow at the top, more dish outline on the right.I would suggest trying different lighting for the plate.   Posted: 03/12/2019 10:03:41

Yvonne, I really like this shot. The uneven lighting on the plate worked for me, and gave me the illusion of movement. A nice composition.   Posted: 03/13/2019 12:12:12

I think this is a very well captured simple and yet eye catching image. With proper exposure you have captured sharp details in dragonfly specially the wings. I like the plain background that enables viewing the main subject without any distraction.   Posted: 03/13/2019 14:15:36

I think the use of the plate was an effective and a creative way to add dimension, allowing the focus to remain on the details of the dragonfly. Good job.   Posted: 03/18/2019 16:22:26

Your masterful macro technique has captured this dragonfly, uhm, masterfully. My only suggestion is that you might rotate the dragonfly on his plate so that he is at some angle that doesn't imply he is part of a museum collection.
