Wow, Paul, what an exciting night shot! I love the light effect here, and the way that it hovers over the night patio scene.   Posted: 02/09/2021 19:04:56

A cool night shot, and hopefully eat once it's warm up.   Posted: 02/10/2021 05:11:49

This is a dramatic image with mood. I like your choice of cold tones to convey the cold weather. Could you share with us how you did that lighting effect?

The white lights are slightly blown. This is easily fixed with lowering the highlights in LR or a curves adjustment in PS.

They are really blown. I did play around with that before submission but like the effect of keeping them blown. Otherwise the details in the image soften.

As far as the lighting effect. I set my camera for a 6 second exposure, released the shutter, counted to three, and then zoomed the lens as smoothly as I could for the final 3 seconds. Obviously on a tripod. The lights themselves were strings of patio lights that are over our pergola.   Posted: 02/11/2021 13:51:37

As the others have said, the zooming creates a great effect with the lights. Interesting that nothing else changed, apart from the one branch pointing towards you. I guess that's down to the long exposure. Well done!   Posted: 02/12/2021 08:15:00

Hi Paul, what an interesting image, immediately you think, how is the light getting through, after reading how you did it you then relook, I like the tree in the foreground, you want to see around it and see what is in the background, the zooming has worked very well, creating a great image.   Posted: 02/13/2021 05:35:27
