Feather or the Egg by Judith Ponti-Sgargi, QPSA

December 2020 - Feather or the Egg

About the Image(s)

Settings: f 16, 6.0 sec., ISO 100, 50 mm, tripod, remote with 2 sec delay, nikon d7200

Theme: minimalism

I photographed this image with a continuous light, and then light painted it. Light painting creates more dramatic shadows. I did global edits in LR, then applied a curve in PS and checked the black and white points to avoid complete black or blown out highlights. As required, I burned on one bright spot in the egg, and applied a curves adjustment painting with white on the mask, to lift the shadow under the egg and the lower part of the egg.

The crop is to reflect minimalism giving the eggs space. The focus was a simple theme and story.

A cute idea, and the empty space to the right allows us perhaps you for a desktop etc and find this a cool still life something that I am not so good at planning.

Nice detail on the egg itself and in the feathers. The placement of the photo's elements is perfect, with the remaining background a good example of negative space.   Posted: 12/13/2020 13:44:14

Love the detail of the egg shell and the effective use of negative space to highlight your subject.   Posted: 12/24/2020 14:24:40
