About the Image(s)

Taken with a Canon 7D - 1/6 @ f22 ISO 100

I live on a property in a little place called Indigo Valley, Victoria, Australia,
This was taken from an outcrop of rocks which were known as Ned Kelly's Lookout (Australian Bushranger), it is a great place to escape to.

Wendy, this is a charming overlook, especially at the close of day.
The big rock seems too dominant to me, especially since it crosses the horizon line. Can you shoot from a little to the right?
This reminds me of Ansel Adams' famous shot, attached.   Posted: 10/08/2019 12:42:31

In my opinion this image has strong initial impact in that I am immediately calmed by the scene as well as trying to recognize where it is from. I'm a lover of rocks as used in Japanese gardens and this grouping and composition is exactly what Japanese garden designers are trying to capture. I like the way the rocks create a couple of framing spots, to the left the low horizon sun and to the right the nearby forest. I think the almost monochromatic sky compliments the subdues tones of the landscape and it reminds me of a painted landscape.

My only suggestion would be to try lightening up the back of the large rock as to me it is so dark that you cannot easily see the contrast of what appears to be an interesting surface. Perhaps a luminosity mask might be a good way to select that area or use a reflection filter in a program like NIK Efex Pro 2.   Posted: 10/08/2019 13:23:07

At first looking, I assumed it was a model, but then looking closer I saw the depth and find this to be a very cleaver way and the rocks with the mountains the distance allow one to think of how long it would take me to walk all the distance and find out it's not greener on the other side as this green side.   Posted: 10/08/2019 17:52:43

What a beautiful escape! You have captured the golden light beautifully. The rough texture of the rocks contrasted with the smooth landscape make this image interesting to me.   Posted: 10/13/2019 15:29:19

A great image and a great place to escape to. The lighting and colours really make this image for me. I like the composition of the rocks and the fact that the largest rock breaks the horizon.
My only comment wold be that I wold crop out some of the sky to focus more on the landscape.   Posted: 10/27/2019 11:10:25
