DOWNTOWN by Timothy Morton, APSA

October 2019 - DOWNTOWN

About the Image(s)

I live in downtown Hamilton, and here is a snap shot taken at RUSH HR of our ART GALLERY a few blocks from my apartment / flat and such thought it's more interesting than a capture of my apartment / flat building.

The re-sized to met the requirements and then fooled around with the UN-SHARP MASK once happy saved with a new name for sharing with you all.

The speeding car in the foreground gives us the feeling that we are standing right on the street. The combination of reflected images and those inside turn the plain facade of the building into an interesting image.   Posted: 10/13/2019 15:18:11

This image does give me a good idea about the environment in which you live. I think the high noise-level adds a sort of gritty inner-city vibe and the blur of the taxi captures a sense of motion that is always part of a city street. I would suggest that if you have Lightroom, you use the Transform tool to straighten out the lines in the image.   Posted: 10/14/2019 16:39:54

I'm thinking I should be seeing a reflection of you as you take this photo. Where are you?   Posted: 10/15/2019 17:14:22

Agreed, and didn't realize that.

I agree that your image gives me a very good idea of the busy, city environment where you live. I live in suburbia, and I forget there are scenes like this. When I go visit an art gallery, it is like I'm going to a completely different place! I like the feeling you've captured.   Posted: 10/15/2019 18:51:29

Hi Tim, The image certainly portrays a sense of place with the car in the foreground and the reflections in the window.   Posted: 10/18/2019 05:11:10
