Too Close for Comfort by Barbara Dunn

January 2018 - Too Close for Comfort

About the Image(s)

This was taken at a Bison reserve. A member of our camera club works there, and got a group of us access to the grazing land of the bison. They seemed curious about the group, and got closer and closer to the pick up truck where we were sitting. Our guide got a little nervous, but after checking out the group, they decided to turn and go the other way, ignoring us.
Canon 7D Mark II; f/9; ISO 400; 150mm.
Steps taken for image:
1. Cropped to better frame the bison.
2. Checked the automatic "lens profile correction" in Lightroom.
3. Placed a slight vignette around image to darken edges.
4. Converted to sepia tone, using the "Antique Light" preset in Lightroom.
5. Changed canvas size to create a white border around edge.
6. Resized for PSA website.

Cute, but scary when I see this large animal and a shame they almost destructed because of the iron horse.   Posted: 01/09/2018 12:13:41

You've got to love bison. A very powerful beast which you can see in its expression here. It's a good tight crop, focusing your attention on the face. The sepia feel makes you think you are looking at an image from the days of the wild west.   Posted: 01/10/2018 07:09:40

Good image of bison and the sepia does give a feel of the old west. Nicely done.   Posted: 01/10/2018 12:45:52

The slight tilt makes it feel like the bison is about to lunge.   Posted: 01/10/2018 15:02:53

Yes, for a few minutes, I thought it would lunge at me! I put the camera down and looked away until it turned and went the other way.   Posted: 01/17/2018 20:46:44

I like the sharp image with details from head to tail. Sepia toning add value to this image.   Posted: 01/17/2018 03:33:13
