About the Image(s)
My image this month is the center of a multi-layer Columbine. Besides being a macro, I stacked several images taken at a different depth of field to get more sharpness of the flower.
This was taken with one of my older Canon cameras. Canon EOS 20D, 100 mm lens, 1/60, f11, ISO 400, aperture priority. You may ask why the f11. The lens was a 100 mm so it was taken at a further distance away, and fortunately, it was far enough back to get some blurring in the background. This is an older image, when I was just learning, but stumbled on some good images. It is one of my favorites, so I
used it this month.

Lee Ann, very striking composition: I especially enjoy the sense that I can reach out and feel the texture; it is very 3D-like and adds greatly to viewers' experience. On another note, the detailed explanation helps greatly in defining "appreciation" for the work. Well done!   Posted: 03/11/2023 17:26:23

Good choices for colors and lighting. You mentioned focus stacking, which leaves me wondering why you choose to half of the yellow bits out of focus. That is, I was expecting them to be in focus as well. The left third provides more of the environment around the photo. If the left third was gone you lose the nice green color to complement the red flower. The opposite is, removing the left third brings the macro work more up front.   Posted: 03/13/2023 20:08:58
Hi Chane:
In all honesty, this is one of my first flower pictures. I stacked many of them. In looking at this image, everything that is at the same level is in focus. Perhaps, I didn't stack this one. I just know that a lot of this is in focus, so I thought is was stacked. I apologize for that. Regarding the green, I would not remove it as I feel it adds to the image, and I like the out of focus bud.   Posted: 03/14/2023 09:50:11

I do like green as well.   Posted: 03/14/2023 10:07:48
Great complimenting colours of the pink and the yellow. I like the contrasting textures of sharpness and the blur of the petals. I think you have 2 images here as Chane states one cropping of the left to focus on the petals and the other as you have done adding the environment leaving the greenery. Very nicely done.   Posted: 03/16/2023 11:51:33
