About the Image(s)

I was driving with a friend for an early morning photo shoot, and this reflection caught my eye. I used my iPhone 11 Pro Max for the shot. Image was cropped and a levels adjustment made.

Oh, yes, I love reflections in the rear view mirror at dawn and dusk! For some reason, I find them especially attractive. The colors seem so intense. The phone is a great camera for this use! We (meaning the photographer) only has to be on their toes and be noticing the environment. You caught Mother Nature doing another beautiful thing!   Posted: 11/10/2020 14:55:06

Great image, and not an easy one to capture. Often there are too many distractions around the mirror. Here you have good framing for the reflection. The viewer can look ahead and behind simultaneously. Hmmm sounds like a good subject for a philosophical discussion.   Posted: 11/10/2020 15:21:54

I felt the first thing that catches my eye is the sunrise. I think capturing the whole mirror, the part of the car, and even the grass/road showing it was moving really helped tell a story. I see great photos with smartphones and I never have think of capturing things like this. I do feel if you had been around a bunch of buildings it would've been harder to take, so great timing too!   Posted: 11/14/2020 21:38:53

Barbara, you caught a beautiful sunrise perfectly in the side view mirror. Well done for your "Something Shiny" assignment.

That is a great reflection and perfect composition with the mirror almost filling the frame. I like the way the light is reflecting on the car too. To me the only distraction is the writing on the mirror but difficult to avoid. Great image and nicely done. I have just got the IPhone 12 PRO Max so i will be trying out the camera...   Posted: 11/17/2020 12:43:37

Well done and Connie put it in very good words. The main subject is in the mirrow and nothings distracts the eye around.
Hmmm - I wonder, if this "rearview mirror shot" could be a future assignement for us all?   Posted: 11/21/2020 23:56:00

Yes, a good idea for a future assignment. You can choose that topic for us if you'd like. We often have good topics that would make a good base for a collection, like for items such as flags or techniques such as looking up or down.   Posted: 11/22/2020 22:58:39

I love rearview mirror photos. Have a few of them myself as it makes a great frame for objects and reminds us to look back once in a while as you may be surprised by what you find. I had to pull over for mine though. I love that yours is on the move as it think it adds to the scene. Thank you.   Posted: 11/22/2020 19:18:17
