Mountain High (path) by Ally Green

March 2020 - Mountain High (path)

About the Image(s)

This taken from a cable car leaving the Swiss mountain village of Murren…I spotted these 2 hikers on their way down which to me added a point of interest to the winding mountain road. It was a beautiful evening in such a peaceful setting.
Shot with my Canon 5D Mark IV and my 24-105 mm lens.

The hikers leaving the road to follow a smaller path adds a needed point of interest to this image. I like the curves of that path leading off to the distance. I think that cropping from the right would make the road and path more prominent. It certainly is a beautiful and peaceful setting.   Posted: 03/08/2020 20:03:27

The curves and winding paths from down below makes the photo interesting. It looks like the hikers are taking a short cut or exploring as they exit the patch between the fence area. Everything is very green and somewhat overgrown, and would look like summer here. Looks like a little garden area on the right ? My eye had trouble focusing on any one thing except the paths below (wonder what's down there?)   Posted: 03/15/2020 01:32:48

The paths are well lit with the sunshine. The "path" section seems to be the left half of the photo. I cropped it to show how all the paths become so much more prominent when the other scenery is eliminated. Your view makes me feel the mountain high which you used as the title. Being there would want to make me take a photo of it, too!   Posted: 03/15/2020 13:20:01

Yes looks much better they way you have cropped it giving more definition to the path...thanks! It was a perfect Swiss Mountain day :)   Posted: 03/17/2020 12:59:50

Carole's crop gives the path more prominence in the image. It is always nice when a person in the picture is wearing a red shirt.   Posted: 03/28/2020 10:27:54

I guess we should all permanently pack a red shirt or jacket to give people to wear when we photograph them on vacation!   Posted: 03/28/2020 12:54:57

Red shirts do come in handy in certain photographic instances, this one included! I agree with Carole's crop making the path more central to the photo at large and removing the distraction of the roof at the top. Living in the desert you tend to forget to really appreciate the lush greenery of other places such as this. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 03/28/2020 17:47:58
